VA's Aid and Attendance Benefit
The VA's Aid and Attendance pension helps pay for Assisted Living for Veterans and their spouses
An unknown benefit know as Aid and Attendance is offered by the Veteran's Administration as part of the "improved Pension" program for veterans and their spouses. This pension will pay for veterans and their surviving spouses that need to reside in an assisted living.
Those persons that need to live in an assisted living to get assistance with the activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, dressing, undressing, medication dosing, and ambulation can take advantage of this benefit to help pay for assisted living facility charges.
This benefit IS NOT NEW but has been around for over 60 years yet many veterans and their families are not aware of this pension. This "Pension Benefit" is not dependent on service related injuries for compensation.
A Veteran is eligible for up to $1,632 per month, while a surviving spouse is eligible for up to $1,055 per month. A Veteran with a Spouse is eligible for up to $1,949 per month.
New Age Senior Care is committed to helping veterans eligible for aid and attendance. We will defer part of the facility fees until the pension "kicks in". Often, the pension is retro active to the time that the application was first submitted as it may take more than three months to start receiving the pension (terms and conditions do apply, call for details).
